
Redbirds' Dickson Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

MEMPHIS, TN - Brandon Dickson was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week. Dickson was given the honor for the week ending August 29th and compiled a 2-0 record, 2.40 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. Earlier in the year, he was named to the PCL All-Star Team. Dickson is the third Redbird to receive Pitcher of the Week, joining Fernando Salas (week ending July 11) and P.J. Walters (week ending May 16).
Jason Motte finished his rehab stay in Memphis and was sent back to the St. Louis Cardinals. In return, the Memphis Redbirds received one of their best bats in Allen Craig. Craig is hitting .322 with a team-leading 76 RBI.
Memphis tied a season-long win streak (seven games) last night after beating the New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins) in the opening contest of a four-game series. The series continues tonight and tomorrow night at 7:05pm, concluding Thursday afternoon at 1:05pm. The 'Birds are currently a half-game behind division leader Iowa and finish the year with four road games against the Cubs.
