
Round Rock Express Blanked at Omaha 7-0

OMAHA, Neb. - Round Rock's winless road trip continued Tuesday as the Express dropped a 7-0 decision in a rain-shortened, five-inning game against the Omaha Royals at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Express (55-83) fell to 0-7 on their final road trip of the season, suffering a shutout for the fourth time on the trip. The Royals (76-62) have won both games of the series and lead the season series 10-4.
Marc Maddox snapped a scoreless tie in the second with an RBI double after Ed Lucas reached on an error to open the inning. The Royals stretched their lead to 5-0 with a four-run third. Matt Moustakas, who delivered 11 RBI in Monday's series opener, started the scoring with an RBI double. Lucas added a sacrifice fly before Maddox delivered an RBI triple. Cody Clark capped the inning with an RBI bunt single. Omaha plated a pair of runs in the fifth on RBI singles from Irving Falu and Scott Thorman.
Anthony Lerew (8-4) held the Express scoreless on one hit and a walk with four strikeouts over 5.0 innings. Jordan Lyles (0-2) suffered the loss; he allowed seven runs, five earned, on 12 hits and no walks with four strikeouts in 4.0 innings.
Falu was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Maddox and Jarrod Dyson added two-hit games for the Royals. Collin DeLome had Round Rock's lone hit, a bunt single to open the third.
Round Rock and Omaha continue their four-game series Wednesday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at Rosenblatt Stadium. Right-hander Josh Banks (9-10, 3.91 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express, opposite Royals right-hander Brian Bannister (0-1, 6.75 ERA).
NOTE: Brian Bogusevic (OF/1B), Brian Esposito (C), Matt Downs (IF) and Wesley Wright (LHP) received September calls-up following Tuesday's game and will join the Houston Astros for Wednesday's game.
