ALBANY, NY - Before puck drop between the Albany Devils and Norfolk Admirals, John Gibson was named the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for October. Friday at Times Union Center he proved why, backstopping the Admirals to a 3-0 victory.

"The puck is not going in for us right now and we can't feel sorry for ourselves," said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky. "We have to find a way. We certainly had numerous chances and you have to give credit to Gibson. We knew he was going to be sharp and we only got three by him in two games down [in Norfolk]. We just have to find a way to score."

Gibson, who made 34 saves, also halted Scott Timmins scoring streak, which ended at nine games - the second longest in franchise history. Timmins best chance to extend his run came during the second period when he found Joe Whitney in the slot. Whitney' s bid for the upper-right corner found the webbing of Gibson's glove.

Moments before the Norfolk netminder had made back-to-back reflex saves near the left post, while his team killed a hooking penalty. Then with less than a minute to play in the second, Gibson robbed Reid Boucher's back-door opportunity with his right leg.

"He's an athletic goalie; moves well," said assistant captain Mike Sislo, who returned to the lineup after missing four games with an upper-body injury. "We just want to get in the offensive zone, get pucks on net, get bodies in front of them and that's where you're going to find the success."

Offensively, Jamie MacQueen, Maxime Sauve and Steven Whitney each scored for Norfolk. MacQueen and Sauve scored first period goals at 12:22 and 14:31. Whitney tallied at 8:17 of the second period.

Scott Wedgewood, who made his fourth straight start, made nine saves on 12 shots in 29:17 of action. Maxime Clermont made his season debut in relief and stopped all nine shots.

The Devils head north Saturday for a 7 pm outing against the Adirondack Phantoms. Fans can stream the game online at http://ahllive.com or listen on 104.5 "The Team" ESPN Radio.
