P-Bruins Fall to Monarchs 5-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 5-2 Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Alexander Khokhlachev and Matt Fraser scored the two goals for the P-Bruins, while Niklas Svedberg made 13 saves and Malcolm Subban made 10 saves.

In the first period, aggressive right from the drop of the puck, Manchester scored 25 seconds into the opening period to take a 1-0 lead. Tanner Pearson scored a power play goal, his sixth goal of the season, while Jordan Weal and Brandon Kozun had the assists. The P-Bruins tied the game on a power play goal from Khokhlachev at the 18:08 mark of the period. It was Khokhlachev's first goal on the season with Seth Griffith and Jordan Knight getting the assists. A little over a minute later, with only two seconds remaining in the period, Manchester struck again. Weal scored the Monarchs goal, his second goal of the season, while Vincent LoVerde and Nick Deslauriers recorded the assists. Manchester led 2-1 going into the first intermission.

In the second period, Manchester capitalized again at the 3:02 mark of the period. The Monarchs forward Nick Shore tallied his second goal of the season. Andrew Bodnarchuk and Pearson assisted him on the play. Later in the period the Monarchs scored on another power play goal by Andy Andreoff at the 7:45 mark of the period, his first goal of the season. Pearson and Kozun picked up the assists. The P-Bruins trailed 4-1 going into the second intermission.

In the third period the scoring continued, but this time the P-Bruins capitalized first. Only 32 seconds into the period, Fraser scored on a power play, his sixth goal of the season. Joe Morrow and Nick Johnson had the assists as the goal cut the lead in half. Manchester added an empty net goal at the 18:55 mark to make it 5-2. Kozun tallied his second goal of the season, with Weal and Deslauriers grabbing the assists. Manchester went onto the 5-2 victory.

Svedberg stopped 13 of 17 shots and Subban stopped all ten shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Martin Jones made 32 saves for the Monarchs. Providence went 2-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins wrap up their weekend in Manchester on Saturday against the Monarchs at 7:00pm. Providence returns to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, November 10 at 3:05pm against the Hartford Wolf Pack. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will received a free megaphone.
