Utica Comets News Release
Utica, N.Y. - The Comets rallied for two goals in the third period to come away with a 3-2 victory over the Laval Rocket Wednesday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. Michael Carcone, Dylan Blujus, and Evan McEneny scored for the Comets. Thatcher Demko made his first start of the season, stopping 19 shots to pick up the win. Petrus Palmu earned his first AHL point with an assist in the third period.
Carcone put the Comets up 1-0 on their first shot of the game, beating Rocket goaltender Charlie Lindgren on a breakaway. Tony Cameranesi had the assist. The Comets would take that lead into the first intermission thanks to three strong penalties kills and nine saves from Demko.
Nikita Jevpalovs tied the game at one two minutes into the second period, stuffing a wraparound attempt through the pads of Demko. Alex Belzile put Laval up 2-1 with a shorthanded goal at the 14:37 mark of the second period.
Blujus tied the game at two three minutes into the third period, ripping a wrist shot over the shoulder of Lindgren. Palmu and Jonah Gadjovich picked up the assists. McEneny gave the Comets a 3-2 lead with a power play goal eight minutes later. Carcone and Reid Boucher tallied the assists. The Comets held Laval to three shots in the third period to secure the victory.
The Comets are back in action Friday night when they hit the road to take on the Rochester Americans. Puck drop at Blue Cross Arena is at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL TV.
