Rockford IceHogs News Release
San Antonio, Tx. - The Rockford IceHogs roared out of the gates with first-period goals from Dylan Sikura and Anthony Louis in a 48-second span, but the San Antonio Rampage battled back and forced a shootout where Jordan Kyrou converted to seal a 3-2 comeback victory for the Rampage.
IceHogs goaltender Collin Delia stopped 35 of 37 shots in the loss, extending his league-leading save total to 401. The 24-year-old netminder has given up two or fewer goals in seven of his last 10 starts.
Sikura began Rockford's hot start at the 3:06 mark of the first period after he freed up space for himself to shoot with an in-and-out move on the rush and fired the puck low to the glove side. Louis followed up with a power-play tally, rifling a shot high-blocker side from a difficult angle near the goal line following a cross-ice feed from Jordan Schroeder
San Antonio defenseman Jakub Jerabek cut the IceHogs lead in half late in the first period on a shot from the right circle that caromed off a Rockford stick in front of the net. Then Charlie Sampair evened things up for the Rampage near the midway point of the second.
Kyrou and Austin Poganski scored in the shootout for San Antonio, while Anthony Louis kept the IceHogs alive with a tally of his own. Dylan Sikura had a chance to send it to the sudden-death rounds, but fired his attempt wide of San Antonio goaltender Jordan Binnington.
The IceHogs concluded their season-long six-game road trip with a record of 2-3-0-1, and now return to the BMO Harris Bank Center for Hockey Fights Cancer Night against the Chicago Wolves on Friday (Nov. 23) at 7 p.m.
Next Home Game: Friday, Nov. 23 vs. Chicago Wolves | 7 p.m.
The IceHogs will host the Chicago Wolves for the team's first-ever Hockey Fights Cancer night. The first 1,500 fans through the door will receive a FREE IceHogs LED fan, courtesy of SwedishAmerican. Proceeds from the postgame auction will benefit SwedishAmerican Foundation.
