Former Syracuse Crunch Forward Joe Motzko to Attend November 23 Game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Former Syracuse Crunch forward Joe Motzko will appear at the Friday, Nov. 23 game when the team hosts the Binghamton Devils at 7 p.m.

Motzko was a member of the Crunch from 2002 to 2007. He ranks fourth all-time in franchise history in points (204), goals (85) and assists (119). The Bemidji, Minnesota native still sits tied for second all-time with nine shorthanded goals and tied for fifth with 32 power-play goals. His 16 power-play goals during the 2005-06 season are still tied for the third most in a single season in team history. He is eighth in games played (245).

Over his 12-year professional career, Motzko appeared in 25 career NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers, Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets posting four goals and two assists. He won the Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007. He also skated in 424 career AHL games with the Chicago Wolves, Hershey Bears, Portland Pirates and Crunch tallying 359 points (156g, 203a). Motzko was a three-time AHL All-Star in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and claimed the Calder Cup with Chicago in 2008.

Motzko will drop the ceremonial first puck before the Nov. 23 game.
