PREVIEW: Delmarva and Hickory meet in the final series of the first half with the Shorebirds first trip to the home of the reigning league champions. The Shorebirds are the hottest team in the league the last two weeks - their 11-5 record in June is the best in the league, along with Delmarva's 20 homers this month and ERA of 2.40. The 'Birds come into tonight's game having won seven of their last eight games and six in a row - their longest winning streak of the season. Hickory lost four in a row the last four nights and they were officially eliminated from playoff contention yesterday. The two teams will play four games over the next three nights, after consecutive rain outs on the last two days in May forced the Shorebirds to play an extra game in Hickory. Since the Shorebirds opened the season with a 4-6 mark and lost two of the first three series, they have a series record of 11-3-2 over their last 16 sets, going 35-20 over that stretch.

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT: Left-hander Wes Benjamin gets the ball from Steve Mintz in the second game of the series. Benjamin hasn't faced the Shorebirds in his career, but is a highly-thought-of prospect in the Rangers system. He was drafted in the fifth round last summer out of Kansas and skipped short-season Spokane in the Northwest League. He makes his 12th career appearance and ninth professional start tonight against Delmarva.

LAST GAME QUICK HITS: The Shorebirds won their sixth game in a row in dramatic fashion in the ninth inning, 6-4. Ryan Mountcastle, Cedric Mullins and Natanael Delgado all homered in the win, and Delgado extended his hit-streak to 10 games. Reid Love earned his second win against Hickory this season, firing six innings with three runs against him. The Shorebirds came back from a 2-0 deficit after two innings and Christian Turnipseed hung on for his 10th save of the year.
