Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defensemen Ryan Button and Marc Cantin have been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to the Royals. In a separate transaction previously completed, defenseman Ray Macias was loaned by the Royals to the Marlies.
This marks third trip of the year to Reading for Button, who's played four games for the Royals without registering any points or penalty minutes. A first year pro from Edmonton, Alberta, Button has one assist and ten penalty minutes in twelve games with the P-Bruins this year. For Cantin, this marks his second trip to Reading. He scored his first pro goal in his fourth game with the team in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones on November 18. Cantin, a first year pro from Omemee, Ontario, has seventeen penalty minutes in fourteen games with the P-Bruins this year. This is the second trip of the year to the AHL for Macias, who has eight points (3g-5a) and twenty-two penalty minutes in nineteen games with the Royals this year.
The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, December 30, 2011 @ 7:05 pm) when the Trenton Titans visit the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The first 5,000 fans tonight will receive a coupon for Whoopie Pie from the Shady Maple Smorgasbord in Lancaster County when the team honors the Pennsylvania Dutch Tradition. The game night broadcast on Friday will start at 6:35 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
