ONTARIO, Calif.- The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, announced the signing of rookie defenseman Sean Murray.

Murray, 24, began his professional career this season with the Louisiana IceGators of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) where he recorded 16 points (3g, 13a) and 45 penalty minutes in 23 games. The 6-foot-1, 195 pound blueliner was tied for fourth in points and assists for a defenseman in the SPHL before signing with Ontario. He helped lead Louisiana to a league-leading 25.4% power play success rate and was second among all skaters with 10 power-play assists.

The Burlington, Ontario native played three seasons of college hockey with Buffalo State between 2008 and 2011. Murray Tallied 18 points (3g, 15a) and 137 penalty minutes in 50 games. In the 2009-10 season, he recorded 79 penalty minutes to become third all-time in single-season penalty minutes for the Bengals.

Murray played 22 regular-season and eight playoff games in his only season of junior hocley with the Powell River Kings of the BCHL in 2007-08, registering a total of 14 points (2g, 12a) and 36 penalty minutes in 30 games.
