December 30, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at First Arena, scoring three goals in the opening 8:26 of the final frame and defeating the Wheeling Nailers, 3-2. The Jackals extended their lead in the Atlantic Division to four points over Wheeling with the club's fifth-straight win.

After a scoreless opening frame, Zack Torquato finished off a two-on-one, taking a Chris Barton feed and sending it past Elmira goaltender Brian Stewart at 3:48 of the second to give Wheeling a 1-0 lead.

Paul Crowder backhanded a puck past Stewart on the power play at 15:41 of the second, finishing off a pass from Cody Chupp to extend the Nailers' advantage to 2-0.

Elmira was outshot 24-14 through two periods, but jumped back into the game when Dustin Gazley banked a puck in off of Nailers goaltender Patrick Killeen on the doorstep, making it 2-1.

Mike Radja stickhandled in from the right circle, walked in front of the net, and then lifted a puck over Killeen in the left circle at 7:31, knotting the game up, 2-2.

Jordan Pietrus wristed a puck from the top of the slot past Killeen's stick just 55 seconds later, putting Elmira in front for the first time, 3-2, at 8:26.

Wheeling was unable to convert on a late power play, as the Jackals completed the comeback with a crucial kill as time expired.

Brian Stewart made 32 saves on 34 shots while improving to 12-5-0-0. Patrick Killeen stopped 22 shots while falling to 9-7-1-1.

The Jackals head to Trenton to take on the Titans tomorrow before returning to First Arena to host the South Carolina Stingrays next Friday. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
