Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems Ownership Group, a proud member of the Central Hockey League would like to acknowledge and congratulate their Head Coach and General Manager Brian Gratz for being named the CHL Employee of the Month for the month of October earlier today.
"Coach Gratz has endeavored to meet the highest level of professionalism as he transitions to a new team and league," said Jim Wiley, Director of Hockey Operations for the Central Hockey League. "His endless quest to complete tasks on time has been unmatched and appreciated by the Hockey Operations staff. Additionally, his efforts to acquire knowledge of the various protocols that are in place within the CHL sets him apart from his peers for this time frame (October)."
On the ice, Gratz has the Gems off to a fast start with an overall record of 4-2-1 (3-2-1 at home, 1-0 on the road). Off the ice, Gratz has graciously volunteered his time after practices to reach out to the community by speaking to kids around various schools in the surrounding area about getting good grades, being diligent with their school work and studying hard and how to persevere or overcome difficult obstacles they may face in their daily lives.
"Brian brings an energy to the rink each and every day, and understands the importance of our team connecting in the community," said Gems President Joe Greene. "He has an outstanding work ethic and takes tremendous pride in not only how he represents our organization, but how the players represent the Gems as well."
