
Bees Ink Pair of Forwards, Place Two on IR, Waive One

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced on Monday the signing of a pair of talented forwards along with three other roster moves. The Bees welcome Anton Kharin (ha-reen) and Ryan McLeod (mik-cloud) to the Valley. Both will players immediately join the Bees active roster.
"We are excited to welcome Anton and Ryan to the Killer Bees." Killer Bees head coach Chris Brooks said. "Both are talented forwards that can make an immediate impact on this squad."
Kharin joins the Killer Bees after playing three games with the Greenville Road Warriors (ECHL) earlier this season. Kharin scored one goal in his brief stint. In previous seasons Kharin has also spent time with the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL) and Muskegon Lumberjacks (IHL). While at Muskegon, Kharin was able to play a game with his father, Sergei Kharin. The elder Kharin is a long time professional hockey player including playing with the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL. Sergei also represented his native Soviet Union on the international level.
"It's good to finally get on the ice today for practice." Kharin continued. "Think we have a good bunch of guys here and it should be a good year."
McLeod will enter the Killer Bees roster after starting the season with the Texas Brahmas. In his three games with Texas, McLeod registered one assist. McLeod spent last season with the Colorado Eagles scoring 21 goals with 37 assists in 64 games. Before the playing for the Eagles last season McLeod suited up for the Rocky Mountain Rage and New Mexico Scorpions. During his career in the CHL McLeod has averaged almost a point a game. Outside of the CHL McLeod has played for the Geleen Smoke Eaters (Netherlands) and Victoria Salmon Kings (ECHL).
"I'm excited to be a part of this team. I know their record has been great so far. I've talked with Coach Brooks in the past and I'm just real excited to come play for him." said McLeod about joining the Bees.
Other roster moves on Monday include waiving forward Greg Holt and placing forwards Tyler Lehrke and Dan Gendur on the 10-day injured reserve list. Holt scored one goal for the Bees in five games.
The Killer Bees hit the road this weekend with games against Bossier-Shreveport and Texas. The Bees also face the Odessa Jackalopes in Odessa on Tuesday, November 16.
The Bees return home on November 19 playing host to Bossier-Shreveport and November 20 against the Texas Brahmas at the State Farm Arena. Tickets are available on killerbeehockey.com or calling 956-843-PUCK (7825).
