Dayton Gems Weekend Review
February 7, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
With the winter weather canceling Wednesday's game against Bloomington, the Dayton Gems had a light week as they played just one game. The lone game came on the road as the Gems took on Quad City.
The rest helped the Gems as they were able to capture a 3-2 win over Quad City on Saturday night. After falling behind 1-0 early in the first period, Dayton scored three straight goals en route to capturing the 3-2 win.
With the win, the Gems snapped a four game losing streak, their longest of the season.
Dayton (21-17-4) is now sixth in the Turner Conference standings.
Naurato back to his old ways
When Brandon Naurato first joined the Dayton Gems, he made a big first impression. After joining the team at the end of December, he scored a goal in each of his first seven games, and recorded 12 total points during that span.
After missing most of January with an injury, Naurato was back on the roster on Jan. 30. In the three games he has played in since his injury, Naurato has recorded three points, including two goals. Thus far, Naurato has played in 10 games with the Gems and has recorded nine goals and six assists during his tenure.
Different faces doing the scoring
Saturday night was unique for the Gems in that Nick Canzanello and Nathan Oke each recorded a goal for the Gems. The two have combined for just eight goals this season, but they both recorded one on Saturday.
Both players have now scored four goals this season.
Upcoming games
The Gems will be playing three games this weekend. They will be on the road for a game against Evansville on Friday before returning home for a pair of games at Hara Arena on Saturday and Sunday.
Schedule
Friday, Feb. 11 at Evansville 8:35 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 12 vs. Fort Wayne 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 13 vs. Quad City 5 p.m.
The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
