QUACK TRACKS

Mixed Bag

While the Mallards have gone 2-3-1 in their last six games, Quad City has posted a 10-5-1 record in its last 16 outings.

Deadline Day The Central Hockey League trading deadline is today at 3:00 p.m.

Home Sweet Home The Mallards have won just one of their last five home games (1-3-1).

On the Road The Mallards have won six straight road games. Quad City has not lost away from home since falling 2-0 to the Mavericks in Missouri on December 23. The Mallards begin a stretch of four straight away games Friday at Fort Wayne.

Close Calls

Nine of the Mallards' last 11 games have been decided by one goal. The Flock has gone 5-4-0 in those nine games. The Mallards have gone 14-9-1 in one-goal contests this season. Quad City is tied with Bloomington for the league lead in one-goal wins.

Defensive The Mallards have given up a league-best average of 2.7 goals per game this season.

Brown Out David Brown last Friday was named CHL Goaltender of the Month for January. Brown posted a 1.37 goals against average and a .958 save percentage while giving up just 11 goals in eight January starts. He finished the month with a 5-2-1 record. Brown leads the CHL in goals against average (2.37) and is tied for the league lead in save percentage (.928)- with teammate Adam Russo- and shutouts (3).

Special Teams The Mallards have killed off 21 straight shorthanded situations and have given up just three goals on their last 62 penalty kills to move into the league lead in penalty killing (85.9 percent). Quad City ranks eleventh in the CHL on the power play (17.0 percent).

Welcome Back Defenseman Jacques Perreault returned to the Mallards last Friday after starting the season in Great Britain with the Edinburgh Capitals of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Perreault skated for the Flock as a rookie last season.

Firsts

Rookie defenseman Bobby Preece scored his first career goal- the game winner- last Friday against Bloomington...Left wing Joe Blaznek scored his first goal as a Mallard- and the three hundred twenty-second of his career- last Saturday against Dayton.

Ins and Outs

Center/right wing Joel Gasper was activated from CHL leave on Saturday, while forward/defenseman Tyler Townsend was granted leave by the league Saturday...The Mallards Friday waived forward Kevin Cooper to open a roster spot for the returning Perreault...The Mallards last Tuesday traded goaltender Jerad Kaufmann to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in exchange for future considerations.

Colorado

The Eagles have won seven straight games overall and six straight on the road to surge into a tie with Rapid City for first place in the Turner Conference. The Eagles and Rush have opened up an eight-point lead over third place Bloomington and Wichita...Colorado swept a pair of games from the Jackalopes at Odessa last weekend...Tomorrow night's game will be the Eagles' tenth away tilt in their last 11 games overall...Colorado's Kevin Ulanski and Riley Nelson are tied for third in the CHL in points (65), tied for fifth in assists (41) and tied for ninth in goals (24). Nelson leads the league in plus/minus rating (+30) while Ulanski ranks second (+28)...Former Mallard Kyle Jones (20-7-2, 2.44, .924) is tied for the league lead in wins, ranks third in goals against average and ranks fourth in save percentage. Jones has made eight straight starts and has won seven straight games...Kyle Peto (6-28-34) ranks second among CHL defensemen in assists and is tied for fourth among blue liners in points...The Eagles rank third in the league in goal scoring (3.8 per game) and are tied for third in power play efficiency (19.1 percent)...Tomorrow evening's game is the third and final match-up between the Mallards and Eagles this season. The two clubs split a pair of games last month at the i wireless Center.

Fort Wayne

The Komets have won five straight games to move to .500 for the first time since a 2-1 win at Arizona on October 23 lifted Fort Wayne's record to 1-1-1. Fort Wayne has gone 13-3-4 in its last 20 games after starting the season 5-15-1...The Komets will try to push above .500 for the first time this season when they host Bloomington Wednesday night...The Komets remain the lowest scoring team in the league (2.8 goals per game)....Tab Lardner (20-12-32) is Fort Wayne's top scorer. Lardner has scored 17 times in 27 games since being acquired in a trade with Missouri in November...Colin Chaulk, who started the season in Italy, has scored three goals and notched 17 points in 14 games since rejoining the Komets last month...The Mallards have gone 5-2-0 against Fort Wayne this season. The Mallards have won the last four meetings between the two teams and won the last two in overtime.

Evansville

The IceMen have posted a respectable 5-5-0 record in their last ten games (after starting the campaign 10-18-5), but have slipped six points behind the Fort Wayne Komets and out of the eighth and final Turner Conference playoff spot...Evansville ranks second to last in the league in goals allowed per game (3.8)...The IceMen won their last home game- 5-4 in a shootout victory over Dayton on January 29- after having gone 0-6-1 in their prior seven home tilts...Evansville's Nicklas Lindberg (12-35-48) ranks ninth in the CHL in assists and tenth in points...The Mallards have gone 5-3-0 against the IceMen this season.

Dayton

Last Saturday's win over the Mallards ended the Gems' four-game winless streak (0-3-1)...Dayton has gone 10-11-3 in its last 24 games after starting the season 11-6-1...Jeff Jakaitis has been in goal in 12 of Dayton's last 13 games and 20 of the Gems' last 22. Jakaitis (17-15-3, 2.62, .926) ranks third in the CHL in minutes played (2103:04) and save percentage, fifth in wins and sixth in goals against average...Mike Vaskivuo (18-22-40) leads Dayton in goals and points...Former Mallard forward Chris Lipsett (8-13-21) is on injured reserve...Brandon Naurato (11-10-21) has scored nine goals and recorded 15 points in ten games since being claimed on waivers by the Gems in December...With last Saturday's win over the Mallards, the Gems evened the season series between the two teams at two wins apiece.

NEXT HOME GAME

Tuesday, February 8- Mallards vs. Colorado Eagles Two-For-Tuesday Fans attending Tuesday night's game will be able to purchase $2 drafts and $2 soft drinks at i wireless Center concession stands.

Post-Game Party: TGI Friday's Fans will have the chance to join all of their favorite Mallards after tomorrow night's game at a post-game party at TGI Friday's in Moline. Friday's is located at 1425 River Drive.

Single Game Tickets

On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the end of the first period.

Between the Pipes

"Between the Pipes," the Mallards' weekly television show, has returned on Mediacom's MC22 channel for the 2010-11 season. New editions of "Between the Pipes" air each Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and are rebroadcast several times each week. Full weekly listings of "Between the Pipes" broadcast times can be found throughout the season on MC22's website, www.mc22.net. The program features a condensed version of the Mallards' Game of the Week interspersed with interviews with Mallards Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone and Mallards players, updates on the Mallards' activities in the community and more.
