Dalbec Goes Deep Again, WooSox Drop Third Straight

Worcester Red Sox News Release
MOOSIC, PA - Bobby Dalbec hit his fifth home run in 10 games, but the Worcester Red Sox took a 5-2 loss to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Friday night at PNC Field.
In 10 games since being optioned to Triple-A, Dalbec is hitting .384 with five homers, 13 RBI, and two walk-off hits. He finished Friday's game 1-for-2 with a HR, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch.
Red Sox rehabber Christian Arroyo (hamstring strain) went 1-for-2 with a single, a walk, and a strikeout in three plate appearances.
After three lopsided games to start the series (a 13-3 WooSox win on Tuesday was followed by losses of 15-2 and 10-1), Worcester and Scranton played a relative nailbiter on Friday night.
Dalbec's blast, an opposite field solo shot over the right field wall, gave the WooSox a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Worcester starter Chris Murphy (L, 1-3) was cruising through three innings before hitting a speed bump in the fourth. After a walk to Franchy Cordero, Billy McKinney jumped on a first-pitch fastball and launched it over the fence in right for a go-ahead two-run homer.
Niko Goodrum tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the top of the fifth, but Andres Chaparro put the RailRiders in front for good with a sacrifice fly in the home half.
Murphy exited after 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with four walks and a season-high six strikeouts. Scranton starter Jhony Brito (W, 1-0), who was just optioned from New York after 10 big league appearances, also struck out six batters while holding Worcester to one earned run in five innings on six hits and two walks.
Scranton extended the lead to 5-2 with back-to-back home runs from Jesus Bastidas and Elijah Dunham in the bottom of the eighth inning. The RailRiders have hit nine home runs through the first four games of the series.
DJ Snelten handled the final six outs of the ballgame for Scranton, including a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning.
Worcester's 12-game road trip continues with a 4:05 p.m. first pitch on Saturday, a 1:05 p.m. start on Sunday, and then a six-game series in Louisville, Kentucky next Tuesday through Sunday.
