Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Allentown, Pennsylvania - A middle innings offensive explosion guided the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (25-25) over the Buffalo Bisons (23-26) by a final score of 7-3 on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.
Buffalo got on the board first in the second inning, as Cameron Eden laced a two-out, two-run double to start the scoring.
After seeing their first eight hitters retired, the IronPigs broke the spell with an Aramis Garcia solo homer, his third of the year. After a Jake Cave double, Drew Ellis launched a two-run homer, his sixth of the season, to put the IronPigs on top 3-2.
The IronPigs added two more in the third on back-to-back RBI doubles in the fourth from Esteban Quiroz and Jim Haley before tacking two more on in the fifth on a run scoring double play and a wild pitch that plated Ellis.
Davis Schneider smacked a solo homer in the eighth for Buffalo, but it was too little, too late, by that juncture.
Bailey Falter (2-0) spun six innings of two-run baseball to earn the win for the IronPigs. Falter walked four and strikeout four, allowing just two hits. Falter retired the final nine batters he faced.
Zach Thompson (1-4) suffered the loss for Buffalo, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks, striking out two.
The IronPigs and Bisons continue their series on Saturday, May 27, with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m.
