
'Dads Blast BlueClaws with Barrage of Homers

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads blasted four homeruns as they defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws 10-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Curtis Terry got the 'Dads on the board in the bottom of the first, crushing a homerun to right. In the next at bat, Sam Huff sent a ball over the left field wall to give them a two run lead.
The 'Dads extended the lead to four in the home half of the third inning. Chris Seise tripled to center to lead off the inning and snap an 0-15 slide. Matt Whatley brought Seise in with his first homerun of the season.
The Crawdads offense kept it coming in the fourth, adding on another pair of runs. Pedro Gonzalez walked and advanced to second as Jose Almonte reached first on a throwing error on a fielder's choice. Miguel Aparicio hit a grounder that advanced Gonzalez to third got Almonte at second. Frainyer Chavez singled Gonzalez in for the inning's first run. Chris Seise hit a sacrifice fly that scored Aparicio from third and gave the 'Dad a 6-0 lead.
Lakewood chased Crawdads starter Tim Brennan out of the game after putting three runs up in the fifth. Brennan pitched 4.2 innings, allowing six hits, no walks, and striking out three.
Sam Huff hit a single to shallow center in the bottom of the fifth to get on base for Gonzalez. Gonzalez belted his seventh homerun of the season to make the score 8-3.
In the sixth inning, the Crawdads scored two more runs to push the score to 10-3. Curtis Terry doubled to bring Whatley, who had reached on a walk, around to score. Gonzalez hit a single to center that scored Terry.
On Saturday, May 4th the Crawdads and the Western Piedmont Symphony will host May the Fourth Be with You: An Evening of John Williams presented by Vanguard Furniture. The Western Piedmont Symphony will perform a medley of John Williams most notable work such as pieces from Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Jaws, and Harry Potter. The event will begin at 7:30pm, with gates opening at 6:00pm. The 'Dads return on Wednesday, May 8th to begin a six-game homestand.
