LAST TIME OUT: Starter Dedniel Nunez posted arguably the best start of the year for a Fireflies hurler. The righty shut down Charleston over 6 innings (3 H, 0 BB, 8 K) and helped lead Columbia to a 7-2 win on Saturday. The Fireflies offense tallied seven runs and eight hits, their highest totals since April 14 and April 20, respectively. Wagner Lagrange and Anthony Dirocie both knocked in a pair of runs in the win.

SHARP'S SERIES: Brian Sharp was at it again on Saturday night in Charleston. The first baseman reached base three more times: he singled, doubled and walked. Check out what he's done this series:

- Sharp vs. Charleston (3 games): 5-for-11, 3 R, 2 2B, 3B, RBI, BB

"HE'S NOT AFRAID": Ronny Mauricio is hitting .313 through 20 games, is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak and is now tied for fourth in the South Atlantic League with 26 total hits. Manager Pedro Lopez said to The State newspaper last week that the 18-year-old Mauricio is "not afraid" at the plate.

MOUND MOJO: The last four nights, Columbia's pitchers have combined for 34 strikeouts and have walked just four. During the road trip (six games), Fireflies hurlers have struck out 63 and walked 12, and that's including a seven strikeout and six walk affair against West Virginia on Tuesday.

MOUND MOJO, Pt. II: Columbia has walked the second-fewest batters in the league (57), sitting only behind Hickory (52).

AT STAKE: The Fireflies aim to split the series with Charleston with a win on Sunday. It would be back-to-back wins for Columbia after the seven-game losing streak was snapped.

FOLLOW THE LAW: Keith Law, senior baseball writer at ESPN, ranked Columbia's roster as the 7th-most "Loaded Roster" in all of Minor League Baseball. Law recognized the fact Columbia's roster includes the Mets' third, fourth and fifth-rated prospects (infielders Ronny Mauricio, Mark Vientos and Shervyen Newton, respectively), New York's past two second-round draft choices (RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson, Vientos) and the system's ninth-rated prospect, left-hander Thomas Szapucki (drafted in the fifth round in 2015). The roster also features 26th (Baseball America) and 27th-rated prospects Chris Viall and Christian James. The prospect rankings are according to MLB.com unless otherwise noted.
