FAIRBORN, Ohio - Dayton's Jim Henkemeyer scored 1:17 into overtime to give the Bombers a 5-4 overtime win over the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday night at the Nutter Center. The win spoiled a comeback effort from the Cyclones in the final four minutes to force the extra stanza.

The Cyclones got the first two goals of the game, as Thomas Beauregard netted his fourth of the season on the initial Cincinnati rush of the game just 20 seconds in. Beauregard came up the left wing side and slipped the puck past Mike Brown to open the scoring, as Matt Syroczynski and Stephen Werner added the assists. The lead extended to 2-0, as Werner picked up his first in a Cincinnati uniform at 8:10. Matt Macdonald and Beauregard added the assists on the score.

The Bombers scored their first goal of the season at 11:09, as Ryan Smyth netted a power play score. Dayton evened the scores at 2-2, at 17:42 when Dominic D'Amour picked up his first of the campaign at 17:42-also on with the man-advantage. The shots on goal in the frame favored Dayton, 19-4.

The Cyclones regained the lead in the opening minute of the second period, as Matt Macdonald scored with a powerplay tally from the point, assisted by Joe Ryan and Barret Ehgoetz. Dayton once again leveled the scores at 3-3, with another powerplay goal-this time from Nino Musitelli at 8:57.

In the third period, Dayton took its first lead of the night when Dan Riedel netted the tally at 13:47. The Cyclones evened things up when Olivier Latendresse got his first score of the season on a redirection off his body at 16:50 from Joe Grimaldi and Billy Irish-Baker to force overtime. Cincinnati outshot Dayton, 11-8, in the period.

Dayton's Jim Henkemeyer ended the contest 1:17 into the extra frame, working a two-on-one with Ryan Smyth. His shot eluded Kyle Gajewski for the game winning goal. Dayton outshot Cincinnati, 48-21, for the game.

The Cyclones are 0-1-1 on the season, while Dayton is 1-0. Cincinnati travels to Wheeling next Friday for a 7:30pm tilt and then returns to U.S. Bank Arena next Saturday for the home opener against Dayton at 7:30pm.
