Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

COMING UP: The Cincinnati Cyclones, the 2008 Kelly Cup champions, play the middle game of a three game road trip tonight at Elmira. The road trip concludes with a sojourn to Reading on Sunday afternoon.

NEXT UP AT HOME: Wheeling comes in for a pair of games on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22--both games start at 7:30pm. The November 21 game will have the players wearing Montreal Canadiens jerseys that can be purchased in a postgame auction and Donato's Pizza will be one dollar per slice. The November 22 game will be one of the Kid's Club games, with various mascots from the area in attendance.

THE SERIES: Tonight is the 13th meeting between the teams all-time. Cincinnati has an 8-2-2 record (.750 winning percentage), including a 1-0-1 mark against the Jackals this season. This is the third of seven meetings between the teams and the first of two contests played at First Arena. Cincinnati is 3-2 at Elmira all-time.

200!: The win against Elmira on November 8 was the 200th regular season triumph by a team called the Cincinnati Cyclones at U.S. Bank Arena. The club played its first game in the facility, then known as The Crown on October 4, 1997--a 1-0 shootout loss to Kansas City in front of 13,253 fans. It was the second event (behind a Fleetwood Mac concert) in the newly renovated facility. The first win by a Cyclones team was when the IHL squad took down Cleveland, 3-2, in a shootout behind 25 saves from Geoff Sarjeant on October 15, 1997.

WAY TO GO EGO!: Cyclones center Barret Ehgoetz is riding a five-game assist streak, thre longest current stretch by any Cincinnati player. Ehgoetz moved into fourth place on the club's career point list (117) on Saturday night. The helper on Olivier Latendresse's game winning goal was the 79th with the Cyclones, third-most on the team's career list.

MORE EHGOETZ INFO...: The shorthanded goal by Barret Ehgoetz in Wednesday's loss at Johnstown was his fifth as a Cyclone. Ehgoetz is the club's all-time leader in shorthanded goals.

AMONG THE LEADERS: Cyclones forwards Thomas Beauregard and Olivier Latendresse are among the ECHL's leading scorers. Beauregard has 13 points and ranks tenth in the ECHL, while Latendresse has twelve points and is eleventh in scoring. Latendresse is third in the ECHL with nine goals. Goaltender Kyle Gajewski is third in the ECHL in minutes played (484) and fifth in saves (243). Jimmy Kilpatrick is eleventh in scoring among rookies with nine points. Steve Makway is eleventh among defensemen in scoring with six points.

LATENDRESSE IS STREAKING: Olivier Latendresse has scored goals in each of the last three road games, the longest away stretch in the ECHL this season. During 2007-08, Olivier accomplished the feat also--almost at the same exact time as this season--although he did it with Arizona (CHL) from October 27 through November 18. During that run last season, Latendresse scored goals at Rocky Mountain (10/27), at Colorado (11/9) and at New Mexico (11/18). He currently has had goals at Reading (10/31), at Dayton (11/1) and at Johnstown (11/12). During his professional career Olivier has never had four conseuctive road games with a goal.

FUNNY NOTE FROM WEDNESDAY...: The victory last Wednesday night (November 5) was the first at U.S. Bank Arena by the Cyclones since winning the Kelly Cup on this surface on June 5. Only two games had been played on the surface since then, but the win came 118 days after clinching the title.

THE SHORT STORY...: The Cyclones have scored five shorthanded goals already this season, the second-most in the ECHL. On opening night (Oct. 17), Sean Perkins netted Cincinnati's first goal of the season a man-disadvantage goal. Olivier Latendresse had one on November 1 in the win at Dayton and Mark Van Guilder had the score on November 4 versus Reading. Cincinnati had a pair of shorthanded goals on Wednesday from Latendresse and Barret Ehgoetz. The Cyclones took advantage of just eleven shorthanded goals all of last season. The club has four already in the month of November.

COMING UP 'SHORT': The four combined shorthanded goals scored in Wednesday's game are not the highest combined total in ECHL history. Five times in league annals a team has scored four shorthanded goals in a contest. The last time it happened was when Florida rang up four shorties against Charlotte on January 5, 2007. The four shorthanded goals from Wednesday is the highest combined total in the ECHL this season.

GET OUT EARLY AND SCORE!: The Cyclones are averaging nearly two goals per game in the first period this season. The 20 opening stanza lamplighters are the most in the ECHL, eight more than Charlotte, Mississippi and South Carolina (each has twelve).

HAVEN'T WE PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE?: The Cyclones have had 30 different players play already this season. Cincinnati used 46 players all of last season, in claiming the Kelly Cup. Head Coach Chuck Weber has used ten different lineups this season.

ROSTER CHANGES: Cyclones forward Billy Irish-Baker announced his retirement on November 10. Irish-Baker played in 68 games over three seasons with Cincinnati and collected nine goals and seven assists for 16 points and 47 penalty minutes. Cyclones goaltender Loic Lacasse has been placed on the injured reserve list. Former Cyclone defenseman Conrad Martin has re-signed with the team and skated with the club Tuesday.

ATTENDANCE NUMBERS UP: The Cyclones have drawn 15,533 to the first five games at U.S. Bank Arena this season, an average of 3,107--which is 19th in the ECHL. Through the first five games of last season, the club drew 12,070--an average of 2,414. Cincinnati did not reach 15,533 until the eighth home game of 2007-08--reaching 15,674 through those eight dates, an average of 1,959 as of November 23.

MILLER LITE CYCLONES COACHES SHOW: The Miller Lite Cyclones Coaches Show will be held tonight from 7-8pm at Jefferson Hall at Newport on the Levee. Head Coach Chuck Weber and a pair of players are usually on hand each week.

MAX FM CARRIES THE GAMES: The Cyclones will have 30 games carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5) this season. The next broadcast will come from Elmira next Friday, November 14.
