
Reign Overtake Thunder 3-2 In Shootout

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs defeated the Stockton Thunder 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday evening, in front of 4,068 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
The Reign (6-4-0-1, 13 points) and Thunder (4-5-0-1, 9 points) met for the first time Wednesday evening in the first of two match-ups between the teams this week. After a scoreless first period, Stockton got on the board first as center Ryan Huddy netted a goal on a penalty shot awarded to the Thunder at 2:36 in the second period. The Thunder went up by two, six minutes into the second with a goal by right wing Justin Chwedoruk. Reign right wing Jon Rheault lit the lamp at 16:05 in the second on the Reign's first power play goal of the night and his second goal in two games. Center Tim Kraus and right wing Maxime Boisclair registered the assists, sending the teams into the third with a score, 2-1.
Deep into the third period the score remained 2-1. Thunder left wing Garet Hunt was sent to the box on an interference call giving the Reign the man advantage with one minute remaining in the match. The Reign pulled Jeff Zatkoff from goal for the 6-4 advantage and with 34 seconds remaining on the clock, the Reign made a comeback as Reign center Dusty Collins fired the puck past Thunder goaltender Andrew Perugini. Goeff Walker assisted on the goal to tie the game 2-2 and send the match into overtime.
Both the Reign and the Thunder were unable to score in the overtime period, sending the game into a shootout, the Reign's second shootout in three games, and the first at home at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Reign netminder Jeff Zatkoff stopped three out of the four shots he faced in the shootout and left wings Todd Jackson, Ryan MacGregor and Jon Rheault all found the net. Rheault's goal in the shootout sealed the win for the Reign as they took home the victory over the Thunder, 3-2.
Goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced in the win.
Notes:
Tim Kraus extended his point streak to four games (2g, 2a) with his assist on Rheault's power play goal match (11/5-11/12)
Maxime Boisclair currently holds a two game assist streak with his assist on Rheault's goal in the match (0g, 2a) (11/8-11/12)
The Reign notched two power play goal in the game, marking the eighth time this season that the club has converted two power play goals in one game

The Reign are back at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Friday, November 14, as they take on Pacific Division rivals, the Bakersfield Condors. Doors open at 6 p.m. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, November 15, the Reign face-off again against the Stockton Thunder as the Reign present Military Appreciation Night brought to you by the USO, Ontario.
