South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/General Manager Jared Bednar announced today that goaltender Josh Johnson has been traded to the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for future considerations.

Johnson, 24, played four games this season for South Carolina, recording two wins and two losses. During the 2007-08 campaign, Johnson posted a 23-13-1 mark with two shutouts, a 2.80 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage for the Stingrays.

"We wanted to do what was best for Josh," Bednar said. "I really like Josh as a person and as a player. He's a pro all the way and everyone in our locker room liked him in a lot. It was just a numbers situ-ation and we had to move someone and Josh was the odd guy out. I wish nothing but the best for him in Gwinnett."

Last season the Esko, MN, native was named the Rbk Hockey Goalie of the Week for November 5-11 and December 24-30 and was the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for December.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot, 195-pound netminder spent four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, posting a 22-20-4 record with three shutouts and a 2.71 goals-against average in 51 career contests.

The Stingrays are now offering the Pick 6 Plan. Pick any six Stingrays games for the price of five. Call 744-2248 for more information.
