Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones third-year right wing Jean-Michel Daoust has been named CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for November. Daoust, 24, posted 21 points during the month to claim the honor. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Daoust, a native of Valleyfield, Quebec, is the first Cyclones player since Joe Cardarelli in December 2002 to collect the Player of the Month award. The 5-foot-7, 170 pounder had a league-best eight-game goal scoring streak from Nov. 7-23 and a ten-game point streak from Nov. 7-28. Jean-Michel had points in twelve of the 14 games in the month in garnering the award.
For the season, Daoust ranks third in the ECHL in points (27), sixth in goals (12) and assists (15) and is +10. Jean-Michel has also scored the game winning goal in four games this season-including three times since Nov. 18. He has had eight multiple point games, including three three-point games in 2007-08.
Daoust played last season with the Cyclones, netting a team-high 32 goals with 62 points. He spent his rookie season as a professional with Danbury (UHL) in 2005-06, helping the Thrashers advanced to the Colonial Cup finals before losing.
Cincinnati is currently the co-leader of the North Division with a 14-5-1 record, the club's best 20 game mark in team history.
"Jean-Michel elevated his game in November," Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He is one of the leaders on this hockey club and brings exceptional offensive skill with a willingness to get better every day to the rink."
The Cincinnati Cyclones play a pair of games at U.S. Bank Arena this weekend (Friday and Saturday) against the North Division co-leaders, Elmira. Face off both nights ts at 7:30pm. Tickets for all Cyclones games can be purchased at the U.S. Bank Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger stores, charge by phone at 513-562-4949 or online at ticketmaster.com.
