
Las Vegas's Manzato Named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. -Las Vegas Wranglers rookie Daniel
Manzato is the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for
November.
Selected in the fifth round (160th overall) by Carolina in the 2002
National Hockey League Entry Draft and under NHL contract with the
Hurricanes, the 23 year old was a perfect 5-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.57
goals-against average and a save percentage of .948 after being assigned to
the Wranglers from Charlotte on Nov. 8.
The 6-foot and 180-pound goalie won his debut with Las Vegas, stopping 23
of 25 shots in a 6-2 win at Phoenix on Nov. 10, and then made 26 saves in a
4-3 win at Bakersfield on Nov. 14. Manzato recorded his first professional
shutout when he stopped all 38 shots, one shy of his season high, in a 4-0
win at Bakersfield on Nov. 16. After making 30 saves in a 3-2 win at
Bakersfield on Nov. 18, he closed out the month by stopping 29 of 30 shots
in a 4-1 win against Phoenix to extend his winning streak to seven games.
Called up to Albany of the American Hockey League on Nov. 24, the Fribourg,
Switzerland native is 7-0-0 and leads the ECHL with a save percentage of
.948 while his goals-against average of 1.69 ties him for the league lead.
He began the season with Florida, but did not appear in any games with the
Everblades before being reassigned to Charlotte on Oct. 25. He was 2-0-0
with a goals-against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .947 in two
games for the Checkers when he was reassigned by Carolina to Las Vegas.
Manzato played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with
Victoriaville from 2001-04 before returning to his native Switzerland where
he played in the Swiss-A League for Kloten, Ambri-Piotta and Basel from
2003-07.
