DULUTH, GA - The Florida Everblades (13-7-0) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end thanks to three third period goals by the Gwinnett Gladiators (13-5-1) allowing the home team to pick up a big 3-1 win on Thursday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in front of a crowd of 2,846.

A scoreless first period was dominated by the goaltenders as Everblades net-minder Justin Peters stopped all 12 Gwinnett shots he faced and Gladiators goaltender Craig Kowalski turned aside all 20 shots he faced. The 20 shots by the Everblades matched a season-high for them in shots in one period.

In the second period the Everblades broke the scoreless tie 3:27 into the frame when Mike McLean took a lead pass from Kirk MacDonald and broke in cleanly on Kowalski. After a couple quick moves, McLean slipped the puck past a sprawling Kowalski and inside the left post to give the Everblades a 1-0 lead on his first goal of the season. The Everblades held the lead heading into the third period thanks to the goaltending by Peters who turned away all 10 Gwinnett shots.

The Gladiators came out strong in the third period and out-shot the Everblades 13-3 on their way to scoring three goals in the final frame. Gwinnett tied the game at one early in the period on a power play goal by Jamie Milam at 5:21. The game remained tied at one until late in the third period when the Gladiators collected the eventual game-winner off the stick of Mike Vigilante. The Gwinnett captain's shot from the top of the left circle fooled Peters and slipped between his pads with just 1:34 remaining in regulation. The Gladiators then sealed the win with an empty net goal by Derek Nesbitt with 51 seconds remaining.

Peters saw his own personal four-game winning streak come to an end after suffering the tough-luck loss. Peters fell to 9-4-0 after allowing two goals on 35 shots. Kowalski earned the win to improve his record to 9-3-1 after stopping 28 of 29 shots.

On the power play, the Everblades closed out night 0-for-3, while the Gladiators finished 1-for-3.
