Cincinnati's Desharnais Named CCM Vector Rookie Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. -Cincinnati center David Desharnais is the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for November.

The Quebec City native had 20 points with four goals, including a shorthand goal and a game-winning goal, 16 assists and a league-leading plus-minus rating of +15 as the Cyclones went 10-3-1 to move into a tie for first place in the North Division.

The 5-foot-6 and 177-pound Desharnais had a four-game assist streak (5a) that was highlighted by a two-assist performance in a 4-0 home win over Wheeling on Nov. 7.

The 21 year old started a seven-game point streak on Nov. 13 in a 5-1 win at Dayton where he scored the game-winning goal and had a season-high three points (1g-2a). He recorded multiple points in each of his next four games, including tying his season high with a goal and two assists in a 5-4 win at Dayton on Nov. 18 and three assists in a 7-5 home loss to Dayton on Nov. 23. Desharnais extended the point streak to seven games with an assist in each of the next two games.

He leads ECHL rookies with 17 assists while his 24 points tie him for second among first-year players and rank eighth overall.

Desharnais made his professional debut in the American Hockey League last season, signing with Bridgeport after completing his career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and finishing with two points (1g-1a) and four penalty minutes in seven games for the Sound Tigers.

He played four seasons in the QMJHL and had 374 points (126g-248a) and 127 penalty minutes in 262 games for Chicoutimi.
