Blades have three added; lose one to AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Franklin MacDonald has been recalled to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League by the Florida Panthers. In addition, forwards Adam Taylor and Dan Collins have been assigned to the club from Rochester, and forward Kirk MacDonald has been re-assigned to the club from the Albany River Rats of the AHL.

Collins joins the Everblades after tallying eight points (3g, 5a) in 24 games with the Americans this season. The 20-year-old rookie had big professional debut on October 5 vs. Syracuse by scoring three points, including his first professional goal. The former 3rd round draft pick by the Florida Panthers in 2005 joined the professional ranks after wrapping up a four-year career at the junior level in the Ontario Hockey League with Plymouth Whalers. Collins' best junior season came in 2006-07 when he record a career-high 68 points (26g, 42a) in 66 games with the Whalers. The Syracuse, New York native also helped lead Plymouth to the OHL Championship by chipping in 20 points (9g, 11a) in 20 playoff games.

Taylor returns to the Everblades after skating in 16 games with the Amerks where he notched one goal and picked up eight penalty minutes. The Campbell River, BC native began the season with the Everblades and played in the team's first two games of the regular season, scoring one goal before getting called up to Rochester on October 23. The call-up to the AHL was the second of the 23-year-old's career, having played in five games with Rochester last season.

Kirk MacDonald also makes his return to the Everblades where he skated in two games earlier this month. The Victoria, BC native began the season in Albany, playing in nine games and collecting one assist before being assigned to the Everblades on Nov. 23. Three days later, the 24-year-old was re-called to the River Rats where he has participated in two more games, notching one goal.

Franklin MacDonld heads back up to Rochester having now played in 11 games with the Everblades this season, scoring eight points (2g, 6a). The call-up is the second this season for the Sydney, Nova Scotia native, have also played in five games with the Amerks eartlier this season.
