Cyclones Announce Inaugural "Cyclones Classic" at Fountain Square
January 25, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announce that they have partnered with 3CDC for the inaugural Cyclones Classic presented by Powerade, Plastic Surgery Group, and The Y. The 2011 Cyclones Classic will kick off this Saturday afternoon starting at 12:00pm.
Inspired by the NHL Winter Classic, the Cyclones Classic at Fountain Square is an all-day youth pond hockey tournament, followed by an on-ice skills clinic led by Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. The year's event will conclude with an exhibition game featuring members of the reigning Kelly Cup Champions at 7:00pm and a public DJ Skate.
The youth tournament, organized by the Queen City Hockey Association and Northern Kentucky Hockey Association, will feature live announcers and live camera coverage on the giant screen at Fountain Square throughout the day. The Cyclones will then turn Fountain Square into a mini-U.S. Bank Arena with Twister, fan activities, giveaways, announcers, and live coverage. Admission is free to the public and spectators are encouraged to attend. Hot chocolate, coffee, tomato soup, and grilled cheese sandwiches will be available for purchase throughout the day. Adult beverages will also be on sale in the evening hours.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena this Friday, January 28 when they play host to the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30pm for the annual Military Appreciation Night presented by The Y. The Cyclones will wear special-edition camouflage jerseys that fans will have an opportunity to purchase at auction after the game. In addition, the first 3,000 fans ages 21 and over will receive a reusable tote bag from Coors. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now.
