Gwinnett Acquires Turner, Paris to Elmira

The Gwinnett Gladiators acquired the rights to defenseman Brennan Turner from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for the rights to defenseman Drew Paris. Turner has been assigned to Gwinnett by the AHL's Binghamton Senators while Paris has been recalled by the Toronto Marlies. Turner has recorded 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 37 games this season with the Jackals. He ranked fourth in scoring among Elmira blueliners and has two multiple point games this season. Turner earned 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 62 games last year with the Jackals.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native skated with the Gladiators during the 2008-09 season. He recorded 14 points (one goal, 13 assists) with the Gladiators and added an assist in five Kelly Cup Playoff Games. Turner also earned four points (two goals, two assists) in 29 points with the Fresno Falcons before being re-assigned by the Chicago Blackhawks from Fresno to Gwinnett. Turner also skated in three games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League during the 2008-09 season.

Turner played three seasons at Yale University from 2005 to 2008. He earned three points in 58 career collegiate games with the Bulldogs. Turner was selected in the 5th round with the 134th overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Paris has recorded 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 39 games this season with the Gladiators. He split time last year between the Gladiators and AHL Toronto. He earned 45 points (12 goals, 33 assists) in 68 games with Gwinnett and had three points in two AHL games with the Marlies. Paris also represented the Gladiators in the 2010 ECHL All Star game in Ontario, California.

Paris appeared in two Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Gladiators in 2009. He split time during the 2008-09 season with the Florida Everblades and the Rochester Americans of the AHL. He had two assist in four games with Florida and was scoreless in five AHL games with Rochester.

Paris played fives seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2004 to 2009 with Quebec, Rimouski, Drummondville, Acadie-Bathurst and Chicoutimi.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
