(Boise, ID) - For this first time in his storied career, Idaho Steelheads forward Marty Flichel has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week.

Flichel had eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) last week, including a six-point explosion on Saturday night during Idaho's 8-1 win over the Utah Grizzlies.

The 34-year-old is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Idaho Steelheads with 369 points (134 goals, 235 assists). He also owns the team records for most points in a game (7) and most assists in a game (6). He was voted first-team All-ECHL during Idaho's Kelly Cup championship season in 2006-2007, was the captain for last season's National-Conference championship team and was recently voted to the ECHL's "All Decade" team.

On behalf of Flichel, a case of pucks will be donated to youth hockey in Idaho by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-2001, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Idaho returns to home ice on Tuesday, February 1, to face the Ontario Reign. Fans can ask for the KTIK section and receive tickets for just $13.50 apiece. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
