July 28, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters picked up a dramatic 6-5 win against the Lowell Spinners on Tuesday night at Susquehanna Bank Park. The Cutters continued their winning ways at home this season improving their record to 17-4 at Susquehanna Bank Park.
The Cutters would fall behind in the top of the first inning as Alejandro Arteaga allowed a triple to Lowell's Luis Basabe. Two batters later Arteaga would hit Victor Acosta to put runners on the corners for the Spinners. Chad De La Guerra brought home both runners with a two RBI triple to make it a 2-0 game. Lowell would stretch their lead to 3-0 before the Cutters offense would start to chip away.
Williamsport scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning against Javier Rodriguez without picking up a hit. Grenny Cumana scored the Cutters first run off an error by the first basemen. Josh Tobias would make it 3-2 with a sacrifice fly scoring Zach Coppola from third base to make it 3-2. Venn Biter would give the Cutters their first lead of the night with a two run double in the bottom of the fifth inning making it 4-3.
Luis Morales would enter the game for the Cutters in the top of the sixth inning as he took over for Arteaga. The outing for Morales however would not go as planned. Morales faced seven batters while allowing a pair of runs to score for Lowell as they jumped ahead 5-4.
Sutter McLoughlin was called upon to get the Cutters out of a bases loaded jam with two out and he would do just that by striking out the batter to end the inning. Williamsport showed some resiliency in front of their home crowd as Gregori Rivero connected on a two run home run in the bottom of the inning to give the Cutters a 6-5 lead and the victory.
