Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, PA - A four run second inning was all Altoona and starting pitcher Tim Alderson would need as the Curve took their series opener with the Trenton Thunder (AA-New York Yankees) 4-3 Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark.
The Curve's big inning was started by a leadoff double by Steve Lerud, two batters later he would score on an RBI double by OF Jeff Corsaletti. Gorkys Hernandez would then double home Corsaletti and score on a fielder's choice. Ray Chang would then record his first hit of the night and would be driven in on a Jason Delaney single for a total of four runs on five hits in the inning off of Thunder righty Ryan Pope (5-11)
Chang would finish the night 3-for-4 while Gorkys and Delaney would each finish 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chang is now hitting .542 (13x24) over his last six home games while Delaney extended his team lead in RBIs to 58.
Alderson (9-1) picks up his third win the Curve after having his longest start since joining Altoona going 7.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits with no walks on his way to his ninth win of the season and his 13th straight start without a loss dating back to 6/2. Jared Hughes would finish the game off picking up his second save of the season after throwing 2.0 innings without allowing an earned run.
The Curve and Thunder (63-65) continue their three game series Wednesday night at Blair County Ballpark. Game two will feature huge discounts on Grandstand and Terrace level seating as part of the Curve's Road to Savings promotion. Terrace level seats will be just $3 while Grandstand level seating is only $1.
