ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves begin a huge three-game series at First Energy Stadium against the Wild Card leading Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies). Both Erie and Reading lost on Monday night which means the R-Phils maintained a half game lead over the 'Wolves in the EL South Wild Card standings. Tonight starts Erie's first and only trip into Reading. Erie has won four of the first six meetings over the Phillies this season. All six games of the season series have been decided by three or fewer runs and two have been decided by one run...The SeaWolves have struggled away from Jerry Uht Park this season with a 23-37 record. Erie dropped six of nine on the most recent road trip and the club is 5-14 away from home since July 8...C Max St. Pierre has been placed on the disabled list with a broken left hand. C Adrian Casanova is set to join the club tonight in Reading. In 51 games with Lakeland, Casanova was hitting .158 with a home run and 15 RBI...Righty Jared Gayhart will make his second start of the season tonight against the Phillies. Gayhart replaces Pat Stanley in the rotation and came in to toss five shutout innings, allowing one hit in his first start against Trenton on August 20. In that game, Stanley threw one warmup pitch before the bottom of the first before experiencing shoulder pain and left before throwing a pitch in the game. Gayhart struck out six while allowing just one walk and he earned his first victory. In six relief appearances, he had no decisions with a 6.52 ERA. On the road, Gayhart is 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA in three appearances...The 'Wolves have not won a road series since taking two of three against Binghamton July 4-6.
