As the 2009 season's end is quickly approaching, the Altoona Curve remind fans that the team has just six home games remaining at Blair County Ballpark. Looking for a reason to join the Curve in their three-game series with the Trenton Thunder (AA-New York Yankees) from August 25-27 or with the Akron Aeros (AA-Cleveland Indians) on September 1-3? The Curve have 10 of them:

Topic: Top 10 reasons to come see the Altoona Curve in their final six home games in 2009

10. Hey, these guys are good

-- The Curve sport the best record in the Eastern League South Division at 28-22 since July 1.

9. A chance to help out needy children while enjoying a night at the ballpark

-- Tuesday August 25 will be Sheetz Family Charities "For the Kidz" Night with a jersey off the back auction for brand new "Kidz" themed uniforms the Curve will wear on this special night.

8. More hits than the Rolling Stones

-- To go along with their improved won-loss record the Curve are also leading the Eastern League in batting with a team average of .282 in the 50 games since July 1st.

7. "Ooos and Ahhs" as the sky lights up

-- Despite only having six home games remaining, the Curve will still be wowing the crowd with two spectacular fireworks displays on Tuesday, August 25 and in the final home game of 2009 on September 3.

6. A glimpse into the future

-- Currently in the Curve clubhouse, there are three of the top 62 prospects in all of Major League Baseball: Pirates' 2008 first round draft pick Pedro Alvarez, who leads the E.L. south in batting over the past two months (.357), CF Gorkys Hernandez who is hitting .471 over his last five games heading into the homestand, and RHP Tim Alderson who has not lost a start since June 2

5. Playing for the fans

-- The Curve just completed their second edition of the team's Road to Savings promotion where each win Altoona earns on the selected road trip earns fans $1 off Grandstand and Terrace level seats. The Curve maximized savings for the fans earning the highest discount possible with a 5-2 record. That means Terrace level seats will be $3 and Grandstand seating will be an amazingly low $1 for the Curve's game on Wednesday, August 26 against the Trenton Thunder.

4. Major Leaguers in Altoona

-- Pittsburgh Pirates lefty Donnie Veal will make a rehab start with Altoona on Thursday August 27. Veal has allowed just one hit in his three previous rehab starts for the Curve.

Also, there are two more Win-It Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays left in 2009. So, no matter what your interests may be, the Curve have something for you.
