July 1, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, Pa - Community outreach has always been a top priority for the Altoona Curve franchise. To further its strong commitment to that objective, the Curve are offering special ticket incentives to assist communities and non-profit groups in their fundraising efforts.
The new program, called the Curve Community Challenge, provides friendly competition for communities and non-profit organizations who raise the most funds by selling Altoona Curve tickets. The winner of this unique contest will be able to name the field at Blair County Ballpark for month of August to provide extra exposure for their organization. (As an example: _______ Field at Blair County Ballpark).
The Curve Community Challenge contest will take place during two, separate, four-day periods in the month of July: Saturday, July 20-23 and Saturday, July 27-30 .
During the Curve Community Challenge Days, communities and non-profit organizations can take advantage of the following opportunities:
** The Altoona Curve will provide fans with an ability to raise additional funds and receive never before offered exposure. Communities and non-profit groups can generate substantial revenue by purchasing Altoona Curve grandstand ticket vouchers for $4 and selling them in their communities for $6 (face value). The extra $2 per ticket goes directly to the community's cause. Communities and non-profits will receive this benefit by selling 25 to 100 ticket vouchers.
** Those organizations that can sell over 100 ticket vouchers as part of the fundraiser will take $3 per ticket (half of the face value) to benefit their group.
** Community businesses that buy a minimum of 50 fundraiser ticket vouchers will have the opportunity to have a display table on the lower concourse at Blair County Ballpark
** Proceeds from the ball launch game at Blair County Ballpark will be divided among the communities and organizations proportionate to the percentage of fundraiser ticket vouchers sold
** The community or non-profit organization that sells the most fundraiser ticket vouchers during the Curve Community Challenge will have the ability to name the field at Blair County Ballpark for the month of August (i.e. Community/Organization Field at Blair County Ballpark).
"The Altoona Curve have a long commitment of reaching out to all types of organizations to help them raise money," said Altoona Curve General Manager Rob Egan. "During difficult economic times, there are many entities that suffer and sadly some of the first to experience difficulty generating revenue are organizations that rely heavily on fundraising. We want to make sure we're doing our part to reach out and provide better opportunities. We feel this program will do that, while also providing great exposure and a fun night at the ballpark for the group ."
Each participating community or group will be assigned an Altoona Curve ticket associate to help guide the groups in their efforts to ensure the fundraiser is a successful one for their organization.
Any organization interested in participating in the Curve Community Challenge can contact Mike Leonard, Altoona Curve Director of Ticket Sales at (814) 283-3120 or via e-mail at mleonard@altoonacurve.com.
