Altoona Curve News Release
HARRISBURG, Pa - The Altoona Curve tied or set four different franchise records to improve their record to 6-1 in the month of August by plating 10 runs in the top of the ninth inning to cement an 18-6 win over the Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals) on Saturday night at Metro Bank Park on City Island.
The Altoona Curve (66-47) set a franchise record for hits (22) and hits in an inning (10), while they tied the franchise record for most runs (18) and most runs in an inning (10).
The win for Altoona puts them 4.0 games ahead of the second place Bowie Baysox and 6.5 games ahead of the Senators in the Eastern League Western Divisional standings.
Miles Durham enjoyed a career-high four hits pounding outs a pair of doubles, a three-run triple and a single en route to going 4-for-6 with four RBIs. Kris Watts also enjoyed the third four-hit night of his career smashing a three-run homer and three singles to compliment his five RBIs. Chase d'Arnaud also had a four-hit night for the Curve.
Andrew Lambo (3-for-5, HR, 2 RBI), Matt Hague (3-for-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI), Josh Harrison (2-for-6, 2 RBI) and Jordy Mercer (2-for-5) all enjoyed multi-hit nights as well.
On the mound, Bryan Morris enjoyed another stellar outing, winning his second straight start. The righty hurled 6.0 innings of two-run, five hit baseball striking out a pair. It is just the second time in his Double-A career that he has earned consecutive wins.
Altoona never trailed in the contest, as the closest the Harrisburg Senators (60-54) would come was when they tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second. The Curve would get back-to-back homers from Lambo and Hague to lead off the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead and hold it in many different capacities and margins throughout the game.
The Altoona Curve and Harrisburg Senators will lock horns in the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. LHP Justin Wilson (9-6, 3.13) will take the hill for Altoona while southpaw Aaron Thompson (4-11, 5.69) will provide the opposition for Harrisburg. Airtime on flagship radio station ESPN 1430, WVAM and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliates begins at 5:30 p.m.
