Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Aeros made a single roster move today as LHP T.J. McFarland was received from Class A Kinston.

McFarland joins Akron for the first time and will make his Eastern League debut at 7:05 p.m. tonight against the New Britain Rock Cats. The 21-year-old concludes his stint in the Carolina League as the sole league-leader with 10 wins and was 10-3 with a 2.81 ERA in 20 games (15 starts). He was the K-Tribe's lone mid-season All-Star and began the year in a piggyback role for current Akron reliever Nick Hagadone before transitioning back to starting. He ranked second on the Kinston team with 109.0 innings pitched and was third with his 74 strikeouts. Cleveland selected McFarland in the fourth round of the June 2007 Draft out of Amos Alonso Stagg High School (IL) and he posted a 9-4 record with a 3.58 ERA in 25 games (23 starts) for Class A Lake County in 2009.

The Aeros roster now stands at the full 24 men + 1 on the disabled list. McFarland will wear #29 as he makes his Aeros debut tonight when he starts at 7:05 p.m. at New Britain Stadium.
