TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Portland Sea Dogs will meet in game two of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels broke through a 4-4 tie by scoring three runs in the top of the eighth inning to knock off the Sea Dogs 7-4 in the series opener on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Left-hander Clayton Tanner gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Suffered the loss in his last start against Altoona 8/1...Allowed five runs, none earned, on six hits in six innings...Struck out four batters and walked one...Allowed the leadoff man to reach in three of his six innings on the mound (scored twice)...Recorded seven ground outs and six fly outs...Threw 92 pitches, 59 strikes...Matched a season-high by allowing five runs for the fourth time this season....Has allowed three runs or less in 16 of his 21 starts...Has allowed three runs or less in...Went six-plus innings for the 12th time in 21 starts and for the 11th time in his last 12 outings...Has walked four batters over his last 19 2/3 innings of work (1.83 bb/9 ip)...Had issued 43 walks in his first 101 innings pitched (3.83 bb/9 ip)...Is 5-2 and has allowed 33 runs, 24 earned, on 71 hits over 84 innings in his last 13 starts since coming off of the DL 5/30 (2.57 ERA)...Left-handed batters are hitting .216 against him (19-for-88)...Ranks fourth in the Eastern League with a 2.98 ERA.

COLLECTORS SERIES: Richmond is trying to win three consecutive series for the first time this season...The club recently took three of four from Altoona followed by winning two of three at New Hampshire...The club has won back-to-back series for the first time since 5/7-5/12 when the club won consecutive three-game sets at Harrisburg and Bowie...Since the All-Star break, the Flying Squirrels are 13-9 and have gone 3-1-2 in the six series that they have played.

ON THE RECORD: The Flying Squirrels moved within two-games of the .500 mark with last night's 7-4 over the Sea Dogs...It's the closest the club has been to .500 since being 41-43 following a 5-1 win at Harrisburg 7/5...Richmond has not been a game below .500 since 6/15 when it was 32-33.

MOUND MATTERS: The Flying Squirrels have a combined staff ERA of 1.79 (35 er/176 ip) in each of their last 19 victories...The Flying Squirrels are 10-47 when allowing four runs or more and 0-29 when giving up six runs or more.

STANDING "O": The Flying Squirrels have scored 17 runs over the past two games, matching the most runs scored in consecutive games this season...The club also scored 17 runs in back-to-back wins at Bowie (3-2, 14-4) 7/22-7/23...The most runs scored by the Flying Squirrels over a three-game stretch is 21 7/21-7/23...Richmond also posted its second consecutive double-digit hit output last night as the club has combined for 24 hits over the last two games...It's the most hits in back-to-back games since the Flying Squirrels notched 27 hits against the Reading Phillies 7/27-7/28.

COUGAR TOWN: Shortstop Ryan Lormand has hits in each of his last five games, the longest hitting streak of the season for the 24-year-old...The University of Houston product is 6-for-20 (.300) over his last five games with two RBI and three runs scored...Lormand is batting .266 (21-for-79) with five doubles, nine RBI, and 11 runs scored in 21 games at shortstop since taking over for Eastern League All-Star Brandon Crawford who was placed on the Disabled List 7/8 with a broken hand.

UNBUCKLING THE BELT: In 107 games combined between Advanced-A San Jose and Double-A Richmond, first baseman Brandon Belt leads all of minor league baseball in on-base percentage (.467), is second in batting average (.368), is third in slugging percentage (.632), and is tied for fourth in hits (142)...The 22-year-old is batting .433 (13-for-30) with runners in scoring position in 30 games with the Flying Squirrels and is hitting .393 (46-for-117) overall with runners in scoring position this season.

SUPER SAVER: Right-hander Rafael Cova recorded his Eastern League-leading 20th save in last night's 7-4 win over Portland...The 28-year-old is 20-for-24 (83%) in save opportunities, and he has held opposing hitters to a .144 (21-for-146) OBA

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 139 double plays in 112 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The Flying Squirrels have not gone more than three games without a double play this season...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Right-hander Daryl Maday earned his ninth Eastern League win and 10th victory overall by tossing a perfect 1 1/3 in last night's 7-4 win over the Sea Dogs...The 24-year-old's career-high for most wins in a single-season is 13 which came across three levels in 2008...He won in relief for the first time since 5/3/08 when he tossed three scoreless innings of relief against the Rome Braves to earn his second win of the season.
