Crunch Edge Comets, 2-1, in Overtime

LYON, FRANCE - The Syracuse Crunch edged the Utica Comets, 2-1, in overtime tonight at the Patinoire Charlemagne Arena. The teams split their preseason series, 1-1.

Crunch goaltender Adam Wilcox turned aside 24 of 25 shots, while Comets netminder, Clay Witt, allowed two goals on 34 attempts.

The Crunch were first on the board with 5:08 remaining in the opening period. While on the penalty kill, Tanner Richard intercepted a pass in the offensive zone and threw one past Witt for an unassisted shorthanded marker.

Only 15 seconds later, Blair Jones evened the score off assists from Michael Zalewski and Cole Cassels.

The score remained knotted through regulation and required an extra period. Early in the overtime frame, Anthony DeAngelo fired one top shelf to down the Comets, 2-1.

The Crunch return to Patinoire Charlemagne on Sunday, Oct. 4 to face the Lyon Hockey Club Les Lions in their final preseason contest at 8 a.m. ET.
