
Admirals Upend Rockford in Preseason Play

Milwaukee, WI--Pontus Aberg tallied a two goals and an assist to guide the Admirals to a 5-2 win over the Rockford IceHogs Friday night at the Kern Center on the campus of the Milwaukee School Engineering.
It was the first of two pre-season contests for the Admirals, who finish up their exhibition slate tomorrow night in Chicago.
It took just 17 seconds for the IceHogs to grab a 1-0 lead as Mike McNeil was able to slip one past Milwaukee netminder Juuse Saros.
However, newcomer Max Reinhart tied things up for the Admirals with just over six minutes left in the first on a power-play marker. Aberg and Conor Allen earned the assists.
Less than two minutes later Felix Girard gave the Ads a 2-1 lead when he collected the puck all alone in front of the Milwaukee net and beat Hogs netminder Mac Carruth.
Pontus Aberg pushed the Ads lead to two with his first goal and second point of the night just 1:17 into the second with assists to Jimmy Oligny and Adam Payerl.
Aberg picked up his second of the night when he redirected a pass from Payerl past the blocker of Carruth at the 8:07 mark of the third period, giving the Ads a 4-1 lead.
Rockford's Kyle Stroh picked up the their second goal of the game to cut the Ads lead at 18:08, however, Milwaukee rookie Max Goertz responded just 16 seconds later to bring cap the scoring and give the Ads a 5-2 win.
Saros picked up win stopping 23 shots.
The Admirals will open the regular season next Saturday night, October 10 at the Allstate Arena against Chicago. The Ads home opener is slated for Friday, October 16th at 7 pm against the Charlotte Checkers at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
