Syracuse Crunch News Release
HARTFORD, CONN. - Eddie Pasquale and the Syracuse Crunch blanked the Hartford Wolf Pack, 6-0, tonight at the XL Center.
Mitchell Stephens put up two goals in his first game back since Dec. 8, while Pasquale stopped all 21 shots for his first shutout of the season. The win builds a season-high eight-game winning streak and advances the team to 28-13-2-1 on the season.
Pasquale earned his third consecutive win in net for the Crunch. Marek Mazanec stopped 26-of-30 between the pipes for the Wolf Pack. Syracuse was held scoreless on three power play opportunities, but went a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Stephens opened scoring for the Crunch at the 11:01 mark of the first period. Alex Barre-Boulet sent the puck up from the goal line for Stephens to finish off from the bottom of the left circle. Hubert Labrie earned the secondary assist.
The Crunch double their lead 2:02 into the middle frame. After getting the puck from Ben Thomas, Ross Colton sped down the right wing and fired in a wrister. Three minutes later, Syracuse made it a three-goal lead when Thomas grabbed the puck at the blue line, stickhandled towards the net and backhanded in his first of the season.
Halfway through the second period, the Crunch went up, 4-0. Cameron Gaunce's left point shot was tipped by Cory Conacher in the slot before being stopped by Mazanec, but the rebound was left loose for Raddysh to clean up.
Syracuse potted back-to-back shorthanded empty-netters in the final minutes to secure a definitive victory. Stephens sent the puck down the ice and in right off the faceoff with 2:51 remaining in the game. A minute later, Dominik Masin sent in his second of the season with the help of Colton and Alex Volkov.
The Crunch continue the five-game road trip in Providence against the Bruins on Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
