Crosscutters Rally in Opener, Second Game Suspended

The Crosscutters came from behind against the Auburn Doubledays 5-3 in Game 1, but play was suspended in Game 2 after a 30 minute rain delay with the Cutters trailing the Doubledays 1-0 in the third.

In Game 1, the Cutters came to bat in the seventh trailing 3-0. Andrew Pullin and Andrew Knapp led off with back-to-back walks. The Doubledays made a pitching change, which didn't play in their favor. Logan Pierce hit an RBI single to left field to score the first run.

Gabriel Lino struck out swinging on a passed ball by Erick Fernandez and Andrew Knapp scored.

Malquin Canelo drove the game-tying run with a bases-loaded walk. Dylan Cozens gave the Cutters the lead with a single to right field. Following another pitching change, Zach Green hit an RBI sacrifice fly to centerfield to give the Cutters a lead they would not relinquish.

The Doubledays scored one run in Game 2. Jean Valdez hit a triple towards the left field line. David Masters brought him home with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Game 2 will resume at a later date.

The Cutters improve to 5-4 at play welcome the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to Bowman Field on Friday for a three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
