June 28, 2013 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Jamestown Jammers News Release

Jamestown, NY- The Jammers after dropping their last two games looked to pick up a huge divisional win on Friday night. The Jammers were able to wait out Mother Nature and play some baseball against Auburn. Shortstop Michael Fransoso would highlight the night by reaching base all five times that he came to the plate en-route to a 6-5 win for Jamestown.

Jin-De Jhang got the Jammers back even in the bottom of the first inning as he drove a ball back up the middle and plating Fransoso to make it a 1-1 ballgame. The tie would be short lived though as Cody Gunter took Jammers starter Colten Brewer out of the park to give Auburn a 2-1 lead on his first home run of the season.

The starters for both teams would turn in efficient starts as Auburn's Jake Johansen would exit the game with 1 out in the third inning and his team leading 2-1. Jamestown try to tie things up in the same inning as they would get runners on second and third. Austin Dicharry would record the final two outs of the inning in relief to end the threat.

Jamestown would make their move for the lead in the fourth inning as they would build momentum off of Dicharry. The Jammers would plate four runs in the inning after all was set and done to take a 5-2 lead. The inning was highlighted by a successful double steal of second and home by Jamestown. Harold Ramirez broke for home shortly after Fransoso bolted for second base.

The pace of the game would pick up in the later innings as both bullpens would do their part to hold the score at 5-2. Auburn decided to get the home crowd on the edges on their seats in the ninth inning. Kevin Kleis worked a clean eighth inning but would run into some problems in the final frame as four consecutive Doubleday runners would reach base to cut the Jammers lead to 6-5.

Brett McKinney would come on to end the rally for Auburn as he recorded the final two outs needed to secure the win for Jamestown. McKinney, in doing so, picked up his first save of the season and Jovany Lopez earned the win working two innings of relief. Colten Brewer picked up the no decision after making his third start of the season. The Jammers are home again tomorrow night for game two of the series. Jamestown will be wearing special jerseys to help support and raise awareness towards Breast Cancer Care at WCA Hospital. The Jerseys will be auctioned off during and after the game.
