London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - A grand slam by Chad Cregar in the top of the 9th pushed Windy City (21-14) to a 7-6 win over London (14-25).

London had a 5-3 lead heading to the 9th, with closer David Francis (0-3) on the hill.

But a hit batter, a walk and a single loaded the bases with one out for Cregar, who blasted his 10th homer of the campaign over the right field fence, pushing the Rippers to a four game losing streak.

London loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 9th but could only muster one run on a ground out by Matt Wright, tightening it to 7-6.

The Rippers took their 5-2 lead in the 7th inning when Aaron Glaum raced home from second on a single by Matt Wright.

However, Windy City got a run in the 8th on a throwing error by Glaum, when trying to turn a double play, running the score to 5-3.

Shane Bagley drove in the first two runs of his professional career with an RBI single in the 3rd, giving London their first lead at 2-1.

David Christensen went two-for-four with two singles and a run scored for the Rippers.

Jamie Richmond tossed 8 solid innings, allowing three runs, 2 earned, on three walks and six strike outs.

London and Windy City will delve into Game 2 of their three game series tomorrow night at 6:30pm at Labatt Park. The Rippers' Brandon Sinnery (1-0 2.25) faces Stephen Sauer (4-1 2.26) and the ThunderBolts.
