GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled left wing Viktor Tikhonov from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. In addition, defenseman David Schlemko has been re-assigned to the Rampage.
Tikhonov, 20, has recorded 3-4-7 and 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 38 games with the Coyotes this season. The rookie was activated from Injured Reserve and assigned to San Antonio on Feb. 4. In four games with the Rampage, Tikhonov collected 2-1-3.
Last season, Tikhonov registered 7-5-12 in 43 games with Cherepovets (Russia). He also represented Russia at the 2008 World Junior Championships and was named Best Forward for the tournament after collecting 5-2-7 in seven games. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Tikhonov was selected by the Coyotes in the first round (28th overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft.
Schlemko, 21, has appeared in three games with the Coyotes this season and recorded his first NHL point with an assist against Carolina on Saturday. He has also registered 5-17-22 and 16 PIM in 47 games with San Antonio this season to lead all Rampage defensemen in scoring. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Schlemko originally signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 19, 2007.
