Coyotes recall Matt Jones

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage today announced that their parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, have recalled defenseman Matt Jones from the American Hockey League team.

In 22 games with San Antonio this season, Jones has collected seven assists and 14 penalty minutes (PIM). In his first professional season, the 6-foot, 215 pound Jones was recalled by the Coyotes on Nov. 23 and played in his first three NHL games, recording 4 PIM. He was then reassigned to San Antonio on Dec. 1.

The 22-year-old native of Downers Grove, Illinois was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft. Jones will be available to play in tomorrow's game at Boston when the Coyotes will play the Bruins on the road.
