Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs got goals from seven different players as they defeated the Houston Aeros by a score of 7-1 on Saturday night at Copps Coliseum. The seven goals scored by Hamilton equals their largest offensive showing of the season. The Bulldogs record now stands at 10-17-0-2.

The Aeros scored the first goal of the game with 7:54 left in the first period while playing with the man-advantage. Left-winger Roman Voloshenko, who was left alone at the right face off circle, took a pass from Patrick O'Sullivan and roofed a shot over Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis' glove.

Hamilton tied the game at the 9:15 mark of the second period when Maxim Lapierre scored his fourth goal of the season. Peter Vandermeer chipped the puck of the boards in the neutral zone and Lapierre broke down the left wing and rifled a shot over the shoulder of Houston netminder Josh Harding.

The game was delayed for approximately seven minutes following the 'Dogs first goal as fans tossed stuffed toys onto the ice.

The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead just 1:34 later on a give-and-go play between Andrei Kostitsyn and Marc-Antoine Pouliot. Kostitsyn broke past an Aeros defender and fed Pouliot with a cross-crease pass. Pouliot then shot the puck past Harding's left pad.

Hamilton added to their lead with a power-play goal with 3:57 remaining in the second period. Defenceman Danny Syvret's attempted pass was deflected by a Houston player, and trickled to Corey Locke at the far side of the net, who scored his ninth goal of the season into an open net.

The 'Dogs scored their fourth consecutive goal and took a 4-1 lead 3:15 into the third period. Peter Vandermeer's initial shot on Harding was stopped, but Francis Lemieux buried the rebound for his second goal in as many games.

Duncan Milroy scored his eighth goal of the season at the 8:56 mark of the third period to give the Bulldogs a 5-1 lead. Milroy skated down the left side and fired a slap shot from the sideboards over the right shoulder of the Aeros goaltender.

Houston goaltender Harding was replaced by Seamus Kotyk following Milroy's goal.

Hamilton scored on their first two shots after the goalie change. Michael Lambert tallied his sixth goal of the season at the 9:39 mark of the third period on a shot that handcuffed Kotyk. James Sanford scored the Bulldogs' seventh straight goal just 17 seconds later for his first goal of the season.

The last three Bulldog goals were scored in just 57 seconds, eclipsing the team record for fastest three goals scored. The previous record was set on March 6, 2001 vs. the Philadelphia Phantoms, when the Bulldogs scored three markers in 1:05.

Bulldogs goaltender Danis stopped 16 shots to earn the win. Danis moved past former 'Dog Ty Conklin into second place on the team's all-time wins list with his 34th career victory. Harding made 20 saves for the Aeros before being replaced by Kotyk with 11:04 left in the game. Kotyk allowed 2 goals on 9 shots.

Hamilton and Houston were both 1 for 5 with the man advantage.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, December 16 when they face off against the defending Calder Cup Champions, the Philadelphia Phantoms, in the first game of a three game road trip. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Hamilton's next home game will take place on Friday, December 23 when the Rochester Americans make their second visit to Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.ca or at Sports Obsession at Jackson Square.
