Coyotes Recall Jones From San Antonio

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that defenseman Matt Jones has been recalled from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

In 22 games with San Antonio this season, Jones has collected 7 assists and 14 penalty minutes (PIM). In his first professional season, the 6-foot, 215 pound Jones was recalled by the Coyotes on Nov. 23 and played in his first three NHL games, recording 4 PIM. He was then reassigned to San Antonio on Dec. 1.

The 22-year-old native of Downers Grove, Illinois was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft.

Jones will be available to play in tomorrow's game at Boston when the Coyotes will play the Bruins on the road. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net Arizona, KDKB 93.3 FM and KDUS 1060 AM. at 3:00 p.m.
