Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (9-17-0-2) will look to win their second straight game tonight when they face the Houston Aeros (18-7-1-1). This will be first ever regular season meeting between these two teams, and the first since the 2003 Calder Cup Finals. Houston defeated Hamilton in seven games to win the Calder Cup.

The Bulldogs are in seventh place in the North Division with 20 points and trail the Cleveland Barons (10-15-1-1) and Toronto Marlies (11-13-0-0) by two points. The Aeros lead the West Division with 38 points and are six points in front of the Milwaukee Admirals (15-6-1-1). Following tonight's game, Hamilton will return to action on Friday, December 16, when they embark on a three-game road trip, beginning with the Phantoms in Philadelphia. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

BULLDOGS NOTES

- D James Sanford scored on his shootout attempt last night against Syracuse (2-1 W). Sanford has now scored on all four of his shootout attempts with the Bulldogs.

- RW Andrei Kostitsyn was denied on a penalty shot early in the second period against the Crunch. The Bulldogs have never scored on a penalty shot at Copps Coliseum.

- G Jeff Deslauriers stopped 21 of 22 shots in last night's victory, and was named the game's first star. Deslauriers has been named as one of the game's stars in his last two appearances. On December 3, against Toronto (2-1 L), he was named the game's second star.

- D Mathieu Roy drew an assist on Francis Lemieux's game-tying goal in the third period. The point was his first in six games.

- The Bulldogs came from behind after trailing through two periods for the second time this season. Hamilton's record when trailing heading into the third period now stands at 2-11-0-1.

- Hamilton tied a season-low by allowing Syracuse only three shots on goal in the third period last night. The Bulldogs previously allowed only three shots on goal in the third period against the Omaha Knights on November 18 (3-1 L).

ALUMNI NOTES

- D Scott Ferguson makes his return to Copps Coliseum as a member of the Aeros. Ferguson spent three seasons with the ‘Dogs, appearing in 193 games and recording 65 points (16g, 49a).

The Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, December 16 when they face the defending Calder Cup Champions, Philadelphia Phantoms, in the first game of a three-in-three weekend on the road.
